Let’s take a look at the difference between aluminum extrusion and die casting:
The appearance
The extruded aluminum profile is a long strip with a uniform cross-section, such as square tubes and round tubes. Generally speaking, it is sawed from any length and its shape is the same. And the surface is with some fine squeezing lines. But die casting aluminum products are cast one by one, without fixed cross-section and shape.
Processing methods
The aluminum extrusion is extruded through an extruder with a round aluminum rod heated to its critical point. The die-cast aluminum is made of aluminum ingot and alloy material, melted in a furnace and molded into a die-casting machine. The shape of die-cast aluminum products can be designed with various and complex shapes. In addition, it has high hardness and can be mixed with zinc to form zinc-aluminum alloy. The cost of die-cast aluminum products is much higher than that of aluminum extrusion, and it is not easy to modify if the design is changed.
In conclusion, aluminum extrusion is a mechanical processing method without melting the metal material. The aluminum die casting is a casting method that the material must be cooled and formed after melted and poured into the mold, and then taken out from the mold.
