The teeth of the roller don&#8217;t have the cutting effect but can press and deform the surface with a pattern. The purpose of knurling as following:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left; padding-left: 40px;\">1. Make the workpiece easy for the user to hold.<br \/>\n2. Increase the aesthetics of the object.<br \/>\n3. Expand diameter to make compression fit<\/p>\n<p>The common patterns used in knurling are straight lines and diamond-shaped lines. There are 3 kinds of thickness of the knurling lines:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">1. <strong>Coarse lines<\/strong> (pitch under 0.8 mm)<br \/>\n2. <strong>Medium lines<\/strong> &nbsp;(pitch 0.8-1.4 mm)<br \/>\n3. <strong>Fine lines <\/strong>(pitch above 1.4 mm)<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/prochain-cnc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/ch07.h28.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"636\" height=\"286\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.waybuilder.net\/sweethaven\/IndustrialTech\/machinist01\/default.asp?uNum=3&amp;iNum=0705\"><span style=\"color: #dbd9d9;\">Image source<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The selection principle is mainly based on the diameter of the workpiece. The coarse-diameter workpiece is rolled with a coarse pattern, and the fine diameter is selected with a fine pattern.
